"T.S. Monk's Birthday today, the greatest writer of melodies ever"

in jazz?

in music period?

his shit is always so memorable and catchy but far from the type of "catchy" that pop music uses to psychologically manipulate the masses

also as Dave Chapelle memorably mentioned in Block Party, Monk was the GOD of timing...timing timing timing

i dunno what else, uh...post up some youtubes of his tunes/performances, discuss favorite songs/albums/periods of his career, conspiracy theories about his and Bird's deaths and that Rothschild chick, whatever you feel...

one of my favorite renditions of a Monk tune ever is this one by Grant Green's Trio http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-d_F7xzxEA

love the "Monk's Dream" album. Love the combination with Charlie Rouse for all those 60's albums.

Like he didn't even reference that he named a different person.

With that said, Bon Bon Vie is a great record.

But, you realize that one the guy performed under that name, and the other guy didn't. You can't expect us to know what you were trying to say. It's not that serious.
