"Peace Kehd" dropped earlier this year, and is one of my favorites of 2014. They dropped Lone Sharks in 2012 and HARK! in 2013. Plus they have a few instrumental albums.
The Your Old Droog EP qualifies.
That Marco Polo album from last year was pretty gritty.
Mello Music Group did a lot of gritty shit in 2012: Sean Born's Behind the Scale, Hassan Mackey Nd Apollo Brown's Daily. Bread, Gulty Simpson's Dice Game.
Of course there's a lot of the Armand Hammer/Billy Woods/Elucid stuff, but I'm pretty sure you're up on that.

tbh there's probably nobody grittier spitting right now than kevin gates, down to his deep gravely voice and depressing subject matter. might not be your thing, though.
Esteemed author of the celebrated, double-platinum post: "Drake - Wu-Tang Forever".

I came in to post this ^^

I need to check these out... Kevin Gates' verse on Lil Bibby's We Are Strong made me a fan. Is he from the newer class? I feel like he came out of nowhere.

As I get older I take gritty to mean brutally honest, inclined to examine the more challinging parts of life:
Castevet - "Mounds of Ash" (from 2010, I'm starting to think this might be the best metal album of the last 4 years) Extra Life - "Dream Seeds" (try out the soul-searching abortion riddle "Righteous Seed" for starters) Majical Clouds - "Impersonator" (a great album of raw youthful and searching meditations, the final track "Notebook" can crush my bones)
