Nas puts one one of the BEST live shows

and the Distant Relatives show in BK was the best live
show I've ever seen....ever.

seeing him pre and post distant relatives, i can attest to that. he's only picked up what makes a good live performance in the last 4-5 years and thank god for that.

funny he released that. too much letting his hype men finish his lines and him shouting too much but really having the sorry bravehearts up there with him ruined it, but that's also watching it on a monitor and not being there... It still wasn't terrible tho, seeing Ether, with the subtle variations "Beans wack, you wack" and Luda and Jada coming out for the Made You Look remix was cool. Plus he always kills One Mic, maybe some people don't like when he drops the lines but I like it.

i mean, i learnt some interesting stuff about the family, about his dad, and jungle (his dad and jungle were the stars really), but not much insightful about the album itself, which was kinda weird. its like the type of film youd expect as a bonus dvd, but its not the film an album like this deserves. the tribe doc was a 100 times better.

On point...they could have expanded on the LP's influence on other artists, which they touched on with Badu, maybe gone more in depth about the studio time...the producers standpoint, which are legends themselves...seeing this makes me only appreciate the Tribe Doc. even more...

i couldn't help but compare it to the tribe doc too.

at least the tribe doc had a primary question: "will tribe ever record together again?" i really like that. whether it adhered to the theme and answered the question is another story. (i thought it did).

but yeah, i couldn't really wrap my head around what the "question" or "theme" of the illmatic doc was.

really would've like to see more "making of" stuff.

or something uncomfortable like "how nas dealt with living up to the expectations post-illmatic."

but i did like the interviews with his dad and jungle. they provided some good insight on nas pre-illmatic that i've never seen.

it's a nice documentary, but i was really hoping to get a bunch of behind the scenes/making of illmatic shit that just wasn't there.

it was more about how nas' family and environment made him into the person who made illmatic.

there were interesting moments but not what i wanted or expected.

i watched the movie this weekend on ppv. throughout the movie, aside from blazin' and sippin on whatever, i was wondering wth his brother actually does?

at one point Jungle referred to he and Nas as "entrepreneurs". Does he help manage Nas' brand? just curious is all.

definitely worth it man

Nothing spectacular as far as effects and stuff but good show, just Green Lantern DJing and Nas spitting the lyrics, might have been cool to have something in the background but they kept it simple, some ill beat switches here and there.

He played thru all of Illmatic than had time to go thru quite a few other joints, some just one verse, The Message, Street Dreams, If I ruled.., Nas Is Like, Hate Me Now, Made You Look, Stillmatic intro, You're Da Man, Live at the BBQ, One Mic, maybe some others Im forgetting but yeah pretty ill, good breath control throughout.
