This is incredible. It's like my fantasy of what being in the room with Marvin while he's working on arrangements with the band might've been....except it's REAL.
There's a lot of unearthed footage of this or that we've all seen a million times. Maybe I was just asleep....but never seen this one before. Bass playing in this rehearsal is better than the record.

i've always had more of a thing for raw rehearsal recordings of my favorite artists (and/or for artists who often perform their live sets loosely like they are rehearsals) were you can feel them working stuff out, trying different stuff and evolving stuff right there on the spot...
thats that magic stuff...
thanks for the heads up on this! ive seen a small snippet of it in a dcumentary i think, but i hadnt seen the full clip here. gonna get me wondering/searching for the ENTIRE rehearsal footage if it exists?

i thought i saw Bernard and Niles.
the most amazing thing about this IMO...this was Marvin at a low point. he was in Belgium drying out from yrs of substance abuse. his life was in turmoil personally (it was over w/Janis) and professionally (it was over w/Motown). YET HIS VOICE IS PERFECT.
