why he would release a song that is so musically similar to the song that caused people to notice him in the first place is beyond me. baffling

while people overanalyze tracks that were throwaways to begin with
his fans are happy and excited for anything he drops.
song's just ok to me but when you have a following like pro era has
it doesn't matter
he's not competing for mainstream success so he's not going to have conventional music industry marketing strategies.

seems kind of flippant to me. maybe it's a nod to his beginnings and/or his early supporters

same dude put out a whole mixtape of songs that didn't make his mixtape 1999
to rave reviews
its not a bad move on his part.

doesn't make is less weird to me

imagine if asap rocky posted a song on soundcloud of which the beat was a replayed version of the "peso" sample that was pitched up or down. or if eminem gave away a song that consisted of new raps over a group of studio musicians playing the "my name is" sample in a different key. it invites comparisons to an already known and likely superior work. i find it odd that someone would knowingly do that

fwiw this criticism isn't limited to joey. i have a similar problem with snoop's "doggystyle" having the same (or nearly the same) descending bassline on 3 songs
