"Posse tracks that for whatever reason just didn't pop"

"John Blaze" Fat Joe feat Pun, Nas, Raekwon and Jadakiss

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPuQxkonEGI

this should have been a universally hailed classic, but it was a minor hit at best, and largely forgotten. I didn't even know they made a video for it.

Oh, and D-Dot, the man who would become "The Madd Rapper" has the final verse.

Still play it on a regular basis. Chuck D's verse is cold! Classic video too!

East Coast West Coast Killa.
Yeah, it had that wack lead-off verse by RBX, but it also had B-Real, KRS, and Nas, who could all rhyme their assess off at the time. Should have been the grand-opening to Dre's post Death Row domination, but it instead got lost in the rest of the crap that was that Aftermath compilation.

Classic
KRS, Rakim, and Kanye with Rick Rubin producing, plus a remix by DJ Premier with a Rakim verse. Should have at least been something. I can't remember a single line of the verses or a single note of either beats.

If I remember correctly they released the single and video after the buzz had died down a bit.

If we're talking singles then:

Scarface - Game Over (feat. Dr. Dre, Ice Cube & Too Short)
KRS-One - 5 Boroughs (feat. Buckshot, Cam'ron, Keith Murray, Killah Priest, Prodigy of Mobb Deep, Redman, Rev. Run & Vigilante)
M.O.P - 4 Alarm Blaze (feat. Teflon & Jay-Z)
Onyx - The Worst (feat. Killa Sin, Method Man, Raekwon & X1)
EPMD - Symphony 2000 (feat. Lady Luck, Method Man & Redman)
Eve - Scenario 2000 (feat. DMX, The LOX & Drag-On)
Noreaga - Play That Shit (feat. Lil' Wayne, Juvenile, Turk, Capone, Musaliny-N-Maze & Big Tymers)
Pharoahe Monch - Simon Says (Remix) (feat. Lady Luck, Redman, Method Man, Shabaam Sahdeeq & Busta Rhymes)
Black Rob - Whoa! (Remix) (feat. Da Brat, Beanie Sigel, G-Dep, Rah Digga & Lil' Cease)
Cam'ron - What Means The World To You (Remix) (feat. Ludacris, Juelz Santana, UGK & Trina)

That's enough for now.

Really, I dont think its the artist primary goal for it to blow up per se, but rather to showcase their lyrical dexterity among peers, or announce their affiliation, which in turn helps build/maintain a fanbase for all participants.
