2012 is up there with the greats if you ask me...

88, 94, 96, 00, 12...

There are legit 20-25 dope albums that dropped that year.

But I'm not saying a year has to be that good but this year is pretty average.

We'll see how it ends.

I dig most of those albums. Not much of a fan of AB, Freddie Gibbs or Bodega though. That list still can't compete with 88, 94 and 96 IMO. That was my only point.

really loved the energy and new faces/sounds/merging of styles that came from that crop and the material older heads were releasing

def not terrible, but MadGibbs, Oxymoron, Les Maj, Shyne CC II, K-Town Oddity, and Blu's second disc are the only albums I'd say are very good to great.

I've dug Step-Bros, Madlib Vol. I (haven't heard two yet), and Taraach's EP. it just feels like nothing is "sticking" outside of MG, half of Oxy and Vince or K-Town's rhymes

that's just me though

I feel RTJ, Black Milk, Kendrick, Vince's Def Jam EP, and Ras-Apollo collab could really elevate things. We may also get Bronson's major this year

A lot of people dropped something last year...so it makes sense that this year has been dry. There haven't been very many bad rap albums this year...and even the commercial stuff has been slow because ratchet music haven't got release dates.

R&B has had a way worse year...because even the few releases there have been have been lackluster.
