Annually he has a concert called "House of Toys" (this is generally one of the best concerts in LA every year)
Those who attend are asked to bring a toy which is then given to charity for delivery to poor kids, and tickets are crazy cheap (one year they were like $9)
anyway, in 2013 (i believe that was the year) he performed all of "Songs..." it was ridiculously dope. he had most of the original musicians and background singers as well as special guests on some songs
The success and response to that, is what gave him the idea for the tour
