Five of my favorite rap albums were released within a seven week span during this time. 93 til Infinity, Return of the Boom Bap, 187 He Wrote, Get In Where You Fit In and Midnight Marauders all came out between September 28th and November 9th. Shit, three of them came out on the same day. Any other label have that kind of quality released in a short time span?

It dropped the same day as some of those too!
Nah, but on the real, I definitely remember that period. It was freshman year of college, and I'd hit up Armand's in Philly every Tuesday. And early in the school year it seemed like Jive was running things.
They also released the "Menace to Society" soundtrack that summer, which is one of the best "hip hop" soundtracks ever.
Comparable runs? Um, maybe Elektra in '91. Or Def Jam in 1990 or 1991. Or Rap-a-Lot in 1993. Rawkus had a helluva singles run In 1996 and 1997. And not to sound all back-packery, but 2011 and 2012 for Mello music Group were insanely dope.

LOL! I actually liked a few tracks from his second album. He had the joint with RZA and Meth. The Ill Al track was dope and Chyskillz produced two that I liked but I can't remember anything from that first one.

That was my 9th grade. Great time for rap.

Yep. This was in regular rotation too.

I'll have to look into the Mello Music Group. That's Oddisee's camp right?

I think I listened to the second album once at a listening station at the short-lived record store on campus. I was wary after the first album (yeah, I bought it the day it dropped. So what?), so I was looking for reasons not to like it. I should probably download the good stuff now.

Yeah, it's the label that Oddisee drops everything through. Apollo Brown drops all his stuff through there too. Add Quelle Chris. Rapper Big Pooh also signed a two album deal with them, but nothing he dropped yet. I'd recommend check for their compilations first, like Self Sacrifice and Mandala Pts. 1 & 2, to give you a flavor for the label.
