I was just talking with a friend about how Mega has an innate quality that allows him to take typically corny topics (the industry, the fallen soldier, the love song etc.) and make them with such heart and sincerity that they yield stellar results most of the time. The same can be said for his occasional struggle bar. The guy is just good, period.

I finally understood why some say Mega is offbeat. There was a moment on the album when I thought Bangs was rapping (2nd verse on "More"). But for the most part, he was onbeat. On this album, Mega showed transparency, maturity and growth. However, the production was just very average. If he was going to get these type of beats he could've just called up some no-name QB producer. This Large Professor and Mega dream collaboration fell flat. They had so much chemistry in the past, I don't know what happened. Lyrically, Mega did his thing though. I would've liked more tracks, plus the tracks are too short. I gotta give it more listens. So far its good.

Which is recommendable,but I think,they may have overdone it.

GMR of course standing for Grown Man Rap. Only slight complaint is that I wish it were longer, but top notch album nonetheless. My challenge is to find a brick and mortar store here in NYC that will have the CD. Anyone on these boards know of one?

...so I didn't even know about this album until i saw that PRhyme/Mega Philosophy poll here, but thank you to it for waking me up. Copped it this past weekend and listened to the Combat Jack where he was on promoting it. I got hit in the soul listening to both. Wise and honorable indeed. I dig Large Pro on here too. Even 'DU,' which I didn't like too much (them snares mostly) at first is growing on me.
Pretty much agree that it's short, and I tend to overplay albums I love and get sick of 'em for awhile, so after a few listens already so far, I feel I gotta ice it for a sec before I've fatigued on it, but i'm already looking forward to the next time, maybe a week or so from now, hehh.
