i got "put on" to him via the Marzette Watts and Company album on ESP disk
good album (you gotta dig free jazz obviously, but if you're asking about Sharrock i'm guessing you do already).
Black Woman is the only album of his i'm remotely familiar with and it's a nice listen, assuming that Linda's avant garde singing/scatting/moaning/screaming doesn't ruin it for you.
The "strangest" context I've heard him in is actually a Herbie Mann-record (=Memphis Underground) where he comes in on the two side-closers and just spray his mayhem all over the groovy-soul jazz, completely laying the tracks to waste.
Also, I dig him on Pharoah Sanders "Tauhid" where hism playing is more about providing "texture" but still dope as fuck. Also, an underrated album he is on is Byard Lancaster's "It's not up to us" which is a really good album where he is featured quite sparingly but you'll definitely notice him when he comes in! Oh yeah, Wayne Shorter's "Supernova" as well. Again, a subdued role but you'll hear him...
As for his solo-albums, I've heard "Black woman" and the album on BYG/actuel. Both are cool but the vocals by his wife are kind of obnoxious...
Oh yeah, Don Cherry's "Eternal Rhythm"!!! GREAT album and, again, Sharrock used quite sparingly...
