STILL my fav Blu project by far.
Would you say he was the 1st rapper to do a full length
over "beat music" LA beat scene ish?

The first few listens were pretty disappointing as it was such a departure from his previous material, but I love it now.

Was ready to just say Blu wasn't for me but gave NoYork
a chance because of the producers he was working with.

Really got into Blu after that. I'm a fan of a lot of the lofi eps
that people on here diss, shrug.

Just don't really mess with BTH like that. There's 2 or 3 songs
I like on there.

hmm, not too too many.

I think some MCs like Busdriver, Nocando, Zion I, some of the Living Legend cats, Koreatown Oddity and other LA bred spitters have gone in on this style of production at some point but I enjoy NoYork the most.

I mean... it IS the case, but with a beat renaissance coming out of LA that is not really underground at all, that has DJ's and producers that grew up on hip hop... how are there not more albums like noyork? Shit I'd love to here flylo, gaslamp, guys like that produce full hip hop albums with a rapper... like a blu and exile, 9th and murs... I kinda wonder why flylo and earl haven't done this yet - they seem to have a close relationship.

FlyLo has tried to work with more rappers.

Has stuff done with Joey Badass, Q, just didn't make the albums.

He's got the Under Achiever guys from BK on Brainfeeder
but seems to be some tension there. Don't think they feel like
they're getting a proper push maybe? His label doesn't really
work like that.

He did the Captain Murphy album with him rapping.
He's done stuff with Earl that didn't make Earl's album.
That's mind blowing when thinking about what beats did make
his debut.

Did the 1st single on Mac Miller's last album.
Couple loosies with Jeremiah Jae here and there.

Azizi Gibson was the 1st rapper signed to Brainfeeder,
he's dropped a couple mixtapes. Hoping he utilizes the Brainfeeder
roster for his debut album.

Jeremiah Jae & Jonwayne rap over LA stuff but they make their
own beats. I think FlyLo had 1 joint on Raw Money Raps.

Some of the guys who helped build FlyLo's 3D LAYER stage
helped Kendrick put his visuals together for the YEEZUS tour.
FlyLo had some input as well.

Thundercat said recently he's working on the next Kendrick album
which means FlyLo is probably there as well.
They move as a unit these days.

Here's hoping that we see some FlyLo, Thundercat, Kendrick stuff
on the next Kendrick album.
