Heard about it a few days ago, listened to his shit for almost an entire day... one of the most amazing voices and artists, period.

short story: it was actually okp that turned me on to jimmy scott a number of years ago. I made a post about how I didn't really have any *male* jazz singers that I liked... they all sounded (and many of them still sound) kind of off to me...

A number of folks recommended Scott (pretty sure Malice did, along with some others) - and he's still, to date, probably my favorite jazz vocalist. And I think part of it is that he always sounds natural; he never sounds like he's aiming for sophistication or craftsmanship, it's just part of his style in this very intrinsic way.

He will be missed, for sure.
