This is on some dusty soul sample chop shit. I loved AICC, but this is also really dope as well. Worth checking out if you're a fan of his 1988 album or the Soul Position stuff.

...like dude said above, very different than his previous release, which had some good ish on it, but overall was disappointing to me...this one is on some back to the elements type ish...you can rock it front to back and it's solid throughout...

I can understand and appreciate what he did with "Adeventures in Counter Culture" (and the "Deleted Scenes" companion piece), but this type of shit is really his bread and butter, and showcases what he does the best. And I'm always a proponent of catering to your strengths as an artist.
He's coming to town with Count Bass D later this week, and I plan on seeing at least one of his two shows.
Also, cats that dug this should also peep "Bend But Don't Break," the album he did with Illogic last year as part of "Greenhouse." One of the better releases of 2013.

I personally thought that it was the best thing he's ever put out, which doesn't take anything away from his previous work or projects in a similar vein such as 'Respect the Architect.'
For the people who have chimed in about not really feeling the last album, are you generally not in favor of him taking his music in some of the directions/genres he explored? Or are you all for it, but feel that it wasn't executed well?

All for him taking his stuff in different directions, just think it's a tough thing to navigate, and to be blunt, just don't think it was all that good (and I been a fan of Print for years). Again, some quality stuff on it here and there, but overall, not something that impressed me...I give duke props for the attempt, just did not deliver IMO...

...but as noted I'm going to revisit since between his solos, Greenhouse Effect, Soul Position, Illogic work, etc. I've been a big fan of his for a long time. That's the only thing he's done that didn't stick (haven't heard "Deleted Scenes", tho).
__ I don't like the beat anymore because its just a loop. ALC didn't FLIP IT ENOUGH!

i sorta disagree with the comment above that this is his 'bread and butter' though - I think him (and illogic) are best when they go as abstract and conceptual as possible with the lyrics and the beats are closer to 'downtempo'/instrumental hip hop than boom bap.
AICC had lower lows, but on first listen i still like "stole our yesterday" and "radioinactive" better than anything on this new one...putting those 2 tracks back to back on AICC was incredible

Flipping through the channels, landed on Charlie Rose Interviewing Sting about all the songs he wrote Charlie asked how a songwriter keep his hope When Sting answered, I never did forget the quote He said, "The music get dark whenever things get bad But artists gotta understand, it's easier to paint with black If you feel it coming on, you gotta reel it back Cause people turn to us to hopefully escape from that" I try to think of that time to time when I'm writing Responsibility that come along with the rhyming Don't be the guy always talkin' bout the sky falling Don't paint the dark cloud, unless you paint the silver lining... That's why I'm rhyming.
I remember hearing Bjork saying something like that as well
