"so who is doing that country rock thing like the eagles today?"

Finally caught that history of the eagles doc on showtime

I love that sound as do most people...sounds like america

Miss me with the "but that's WPS" canard....desperado got much love in my hyper Black household because good music knows no color

Anyway... I need it in my life come put it in my life

Fleet foxes got the beach boys-ian harmonies but I need that high lo esome sound to go along with it

Anybody? Bueller?

Eagles were a little AOR friendly to me.

Alt-country/country-rock or whatever you want to call it is pretty big here in Texas, but I'm not really in to it. Tons of hipster kids who came up on indie, suddenly getting in to country music. smh.

did you like "continuum?"
that's his masterpiece.

it's in my top 100 album of all time.
his last 2 albums aren't on that level,
but they are pretty great.

...the off-putting thing was that on swedish TV, his latest (?) album was advertised as a mix of Sting and Eric Clapton. I mean, if you want Jakob to check out an album, those references are an epic fail. I will check him out more indepth one day though but *ONLY* because Joe Corn Moe seems like a cool guy and he loves Mayer, LOL! If he sucks... Seriously, I suspect him to suck but I hope I will get the point, I don't think Corn Mo would dig Repulsion or Cecil Taylor... It's a matter of respect at the end of the day...

More out of that Wilco alt-country thing than SoCal rock, but they're good.

more Jackson Browne than the (early) Eagles, but definitely in that Laurel Canyon vein.

Why not some old shit you *might* not have heard before, stuff that avoids annoying modern-rock trappings?

Dillard&Clark: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URFg_pg2GVY

Flying Burrito Brothers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rVzsEXk3kQ

Gram Parsons: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1PytxPaU6k4

Cowboy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bb8EzV7AFCA

Buffalo Springfield (obviously not a country-rock *band* but this might be my favorite country-rock tune; Richie Furay knocked it out the park here, Poco was never this good...):https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bj7LzlZfWg8

Obviously, early Poco, the Byrds "Sweethearts of the rodeo" etc. as well.

I assume youv'e heard all this stuff (well, maybe not the obscure Cowboy whose albums are HIGHLY recommended) but if anyone else cares, theres better stuff than the Eagles out there IMO
