I love the Tip version and it got a lot of love because I feel like they only showed the video once on Rap City when we were all watching and then never saw it again...so it was like a hidden gem.
But after recently listening...that shit isn't even close. Pete Rock ALL fucking day.
The Tip version is almost too minimal.
Pete's version is layered to perfection and the scratched bridge puts it over the top.

the stuff he was doing then lent A LOT to Dilla's style later on and he deserves more credit for that but the feel on Pete's beat is pretty hard to touch by anybody, it was just perfect

So I can't really choose.
I always preferred the Q-Tip mix, personally, but I can't say it's "better"... just the the one that's more my flavor... sounds more raw, etc. While the Pete version is pretty and jazzy and so forth and I loved it when I heard it; I know the Tip version hits me like it does *because* it's in such contrast to the smooth original.

The Pete Rock version is crack. Q tip version is heroin. In other words i cant really choose but i think I like the Q tip version better. Speaking of that...i swear there is only a "clean" version of the remix. Am i right about that?
