"RIP Cool Cee Brown AKA Claude "Akir" Nadir of Dirty Water (DMV)"
The DC area lost one of its best talents in Cool Cee Brown aka Claude "Akir" Nadir, one half of Dirty Water with Joe D (who has worked with Boog Brown, Gods'Illa and others).
I don't know details, and I've only met him a few times in my life but he was always a gracious brother. I loved him in Dirty Water and he's got a jam with Phonte and Asheru that I love which I posted below.
I also posted a track he did with local production legend Theory as well and a Dirty Water jount. Damn, young.
One of the more distinctive and talented MCs of the DC/DMV hip hop scene. Former Freestyle Union protege, member of The Amphibians collective, affiliate of numerous crews and artists such as Cornel West Theory, Asheru, Zo!, Roddy Rod, Yazarah, The Els, and Gods'illa. Remarkable solo artist and member of underrated yet prolific duo Dirty Water with producer/MC Joe D.
I encourage y'all to give his tunes a listen. Let 'em marinate on your ears: there's many jewels, wit, sarcasm, wisdom, flavor, reflection, and poetry to be absorbed thru his artistry. He wasn't cartoonish or bombastic, but very much an MC of the highest caliber.
RIP to the brother Claude aka Emanon aka Cool Cee Brown aka Akil Nadir.
