I don't really know anything about this group, just saw the "Canal St." video pop up on my Facebook feed and was intrigued. The music I've heard so far is super pitched up sample chops over hollow drums. Emcees got bars and this real nice energy to them.
They're on XL Recordings so they're gonna get that innnnnanet love treatment (assuming they haven't already). Debut album drops tomorrow which you can stream on NPR

It's *hugely NY* which is really what makes me remember hitting shows and seeing Def Jux / Fondle Em / EOW and listening to fresh new music that was distinctly from this city.
When I listen to this album I feel somewhat Iron Galaxyish. Just a tad.
Best description I've heard about it was in an interview with Despot "That is some very particularly New York shit."

kind of an updated born-in-the-90s take on that CoFlow x CanOx wave, w/ a splash of dipset.

it really is Co Flow meets Dipset as crazy as that sounds. anthems in decomposition as i described it to a friend
I don't know if i'll revisit it much after these 4 full listens but i LOVE, the title track. The syncopated dissonance and clashing harmonies in that song are crazy. The semi-raps with soulful crooning juxtapose pieces of poetry over those slapping 808s is creative as hell
