I think in the end I gotta go with the Grand Groove Bonus Mix. It's got a couple things going for it:

1) one of the best opening 2 bars ever "C-Section snatched me out by the head/I glanced at the calendar and it read..."

2) how he ends each verse (Peace to the brothers who passed away....Peace to the mothers who passed away...One love grand groove you passed away...)

3) the way the beat drops out when the chorus comes in with that swirly piano loop...the chorus is actually really dope, heartfelt, vulnerable, but simple...no extra drama no fake cold hearted shit

4) it's got a cool video...the kind that's direct, no frills, just tragedy walking around with his crew rhyming and a couple funeral scenes


Of course the original is a classic

It doesn't get any better than that DJ Hollywood break....nothing feels more nostalgic...there will never be a better loop

And the way tragedy rhymes gives it a park feel, live stream of consciousness appeal


In the history of OGs and Remixes this has gotta be up there somewhere

Can't go wrong with a Patrice Rushen sample. That little "yeah, yeah. hmmm, hmmm." vocal sample (not sure if that's what's being said) I dig it. Lord Finesse used it on "Food for Thought" too. Also just realized Trag is a Leo like myself.
