I don't think that it's an East Coast biased board so much as it's more of a Hip Hop based board I think. I love that Snoop record (it's my second favorite of the bunch listed after Wu) but that was a serious year for all time great Hip Hop albums. I will admit it would have been nice if they were gonna include Black Moon (who doesn't belong among these greats in my opinion) then they might as well include 21 and Over which is more of a straight up Hip Hop album than your traditional gangsta record.

that people here would say are better than 2001 or All eyez on me. But I always thought Doggystyle was like a major huge classic, even here.

Most people wouldn't dispute that. It's just being compared to Midnight Marauders & Enter The 36 (The Black Moon inclusion is way off base) where you're going to have people who choose those albums over Doggystyle. It's no insult because all 3 of those albums are great.
I personally love Strictly 4 My Niggaz as an album from 93 over Doggystyle even though I know Doggystyle is generally held in higher regard by most folks.

It's that way with some of the more extreme East Coast heads around here but I think overall it's more about the sound than where someone is from. Souls of Mischief is gonna get more love than E-40 not just because of where they are from but because the style they use falls in line more with their tastes.

so basically it has to sound east coast influenced to get the thumbs up from them.

If you rap then you're East Coast influenced no matter what the style is. No I don't think it has to have one particular stereotypical, East Coast Boom Bap sound in order to get proper acclaim around theses parts. Death Certificate doesn't sound like that. Neither does King Tee or for that matter Biggie.

I didn't get 36 Chambers until "Can't It Be" was released as a single and won me over. Enta Da Stage is cool. The remixes really set the stage for Boot Camp IMO. 93 til' Infinity should have been on this list.

i seem to remember everyone listening to doggystyle

but wu was huge too, attracted a whole bunch of skateboarders

was even labeled as skater rap 'round these parts here

that's a tough one, but i voted doggystyle, i do think it was the bigger album at the time

With bitch this and bitch that, lickety split suck a dick, etc., all over the album. It felt unnecessarily vulgar and immature. 36 Chambers and MM were a bit more cerebral with mathematics and abstract thoughts and rhymes.

Midnight Marauders holds up best.
