I don't know about you, but I saw plenty of penises in gym class. Listened to a bunch of house music. Read Seventeen magazine (well, really jerked off to it, porn's hard to come by at 13 years old and my sister had a subscription)
Ain't none of em made me want to be 'gay'
If you guys are afraid dat gay now in hip-hop, just wait till the 'lifestyle' gets accepted as marriage equality goes, etc.
Plus, we are having a debate on an asswhipe who calls himself a 'hip-hop conservative' who's title is problematic as fuck.
So far you have danced around terminology (those are costumes, these are not) talked about the big money major labels (who have almost always been involved in hip-hop background shenanigans since Rappers Delight) and purposely worded your conversation because if you just replaced 'lifestyle' with 'gay' even you would see how ridiculous your argument sounds.
I just don't see what the issue is. Hair metal rockers were wearing full makeup, teased hair, ass jeans (and not always in "costume"). If there's going to be a whole subset of gay hip-hop, bring it as long as the music is dope.
As far as societal concerns are you've got things like the prison industrial complex, several high profile 'lets murk a black teen for the fuck of it' cases from Fruitville to the Florida movie shooting theater.
And if anything, outside of just the general US fucking with us its probably expected hyper-masculinity that leads to much of our downfall (gotta pay back disrespects, can't be seen weak, therapy? LOLZ, emotion is for pussies, etc). And yet you guys are worried about the gay mafia. I mean, by all means focus on who's sucking who's dick, it's your prerogative. But there are ultimately bigger fish to fry.
