"Demo/official spinoff post: name songs that were released & re-recorded"
…years later by the original artist, usually to more acclaim and/or vast sonic improvement.
I'll start off with some of the more notable ones. I particularly love Dianne's re-make of Better Days, the first one sounds more like a demo compared to it but it was first commercially released in 1982:
definitely agree with you there m'man. it's crazy how some of these should've left well enough alone (Optimistic) while others (Better Days) are leaps and bounds better than the OG wasn't aware of the Dells joint, good looks

habit of doing that, is 1) I have yet to hear one that's a step down in quality, 2) they're usually significantly different in style, and 3) P-Funk has so much material, that nobody should really complain about them wasting space or anything like that on their albums with self-covers.
btw, there's also "I Call My Baby Pussycat" and "Testify". Probably still more.

wow, I didn't know this existed! sounds like it could've been at home on a Live album (did Mary ever do one?) i probably like these about the same, maybe the '06 slightly more

It was on her self-titled debut album and then it was re-recorded for her Paradise EP. It was much better on the original. Her Paradise version was too slow and fleshed out. It was frustrating.
