"CD's in your collection that make you say WTF!?"

Why in the hell do I own this? I'm reorganizing my collection and am up to my post 2000 shit when I come across Hot Hot Heat's Make Up the Breakdown album from 2002. This was purchased during my time working at Wherehouse Music in Atlanta (1998-2003). This album was a favorite among my co-workers so I bought it to fit in I guess. It's a fun album but I never checked for this band again. You own any albums like this?

To this day, I have no idea why.
I think I got it for the DJ Premier remix with Mos Def - but that's not on the album.
Every time I go through my CDs, I just look at it and shake my head.

It does have some early Neptunes, Ye and Just Blaze tracks on it so I guess it's not entirely a waste of storage space.

Every man had those 2 or 3 R&B albums he was supposed to have in case a jawn dropped by.
Dru Hill was one of those CDs.

I use to grab promos from the record store (that's back in the day before stores started selling their cd promos online and ones that employees didn't want) and sometimes I go thru the $1 cd bins or the buy #of cds for $1 or $5, etc.

Here's a list of cds I got in a big box that I stash cds I don't like and 40% of them I don't even know why I bought it.

Here's a list:

Michelle Bonilla "Phenomenal" (I think I bought cause I thought it was some brazilian or bossa-nova shit)
Smokin Suckaz with Logic "Playin' Foolz"
Str8 Young Gangstaz "Steady Bangin'"
Jay Richards "Journey Home"
Tara Jane Oneil "TJO TKO"
Zabrina "Z=MC2" (I thought it was some rap group not a wack female rapper)
Doran "Monuments" (I like it but still don't know how I got this)
Lunatic Calm "Breaking Point"
Get Low Playaz "The Package" (it's still in the plastic, it just looks like it would've been terrible)
Honeycut "The Day I Turned To Glass"
Various Artists "Freak Doggin'" (it has a $1 price sticker on it but I don't remember buying this at all)
Loop Guru "Bathtime With" (I think this was free promo I got)
Mil-Ticker Ent. Presents "Out Da Woodz Vol.1" (I think I got this from an artist at a show, damn it sucked ass)
Styles & J.I.Z. "Give Me Some Bass" (I think I bought it cause it was a bass cd & cause I got it part of one of those buy 3 for $5 deals)
Karo "South Cak Ways" (another cd I think I got from the artist at a show, waaaaaccccckkkkk)
"Clubber's Guide To Ibiza 2004" (I still don't know how I got this, I opened up last week but I know I've had it for at least 6 years)
"Trip Hop Til' U Drop" (I found this a month ago in a box of cds I've had sealed since 2004)
Paul Jackson "Now" (I actually own this on cd but this one is an sealed cardboard sleeve promo, don't know how I got this but found it last year)

I can list more but you get the idea, now I don't spend money on cds or vinyl like I use to but I'm really picky when buying cds now.

He was hyped on the OutKast.com boards I posted on before coming here, as a kid rapper that was exponentially better than Bow Wow, and made his own beats. He's on the cover in an oversized white suit (red flag), in front of a Phantom on the beach (red flag). I check the CD out every now & then just to see why I bought this shit or if I've been missing some gem since '05.

I think (like everyone did) thought Canibus was going to come with dope lyrics over dope beats but nope, not this time, the guest rappers really sucked though but I do like the Eminem diss and I definitely like "Box Cutta Blade Runna".

I'm not going to front it wasn't bad but it had some good tunes on it, it's an r&b album not a rap album, which is what I think a lot of people who were buying any No Limit artists thought.

I think you should listen to that album again, with a different ear.

I think I only bought the first albums by Fiend, Mac, Soulja Slim and C-Murder. I also bought Tru 2 Da Game. That's it though.

...before becoming a one-hit wonder. Not that I've ever heard anything from them less than awful, just saying that the dirty anarchists with Crass-T-shirts loved them. The funny thing is that the "Thubthumping"-song gave them a whole new image as this one-hot wonder goofy pop-rock band...
