"Drizzy butthurt that he didn't get a text from Macklemore (SWIPE)"

http://www.thefader.com/2014/02/12/drake-genius-macklemore-kendrick-grammy-text/

"In a forthcoming interview with Rolling Stone, Drake weighs in on Macklemore’s Grammy win and his bizarrely-made-public text to Kendrick Lamar. I don’t know what the award is for best interview answer, but Drake surely deserves one for this:

'That shit was wack as fuck… I was like, ‘You won. Why are you posting your text message? Just chill. Take your W, and if you feel you didn’t deserve it, go get better — make better music. It felt cheap. It didn’t feel genuine. Why do that? Why feel guilt? You think those guys would pay homage to you if they won?

This is how the world works: He made a brand of music that appealed to more people than me, Hov, Kanye and Kendrick. Whether people wanna say it’s racial, or whether it’s just the fact that he tapped into something we can’t tap into. That’s just how the cards fall. Own your shit.

To name just Kendrick? That shit made me feel funny. No, in that case, you robbed everybody. We all need text messages!' "

What do you think of this? I respect Macklemore for what he did, especially posting it online. Its his opinion that GKMC is the album of the year, not any other album, he felt he robbed this one. And Drake comes and stands up saying that its wrong, thats not what you should do, you should take your Win and not give your opinion for anyone to hear, unless of course you decide to say that his album got robbed as well.

Look Aubrey, a lot of people (including Macklemore) consider GKMC one of the best albums, of all music, to come out in recent years. Not as many people feel the same about your album, I think that's the shit that makes you feel funny

the only thing that signifies 'butthurt' here to me is that Drake said it. I think macklemore WAS wack as fuck for posting that text message but not for sending it. It was the kinda thing that should've been kept private; by posting pics of a private convo he just seemed like he was patting himself on the back

It is a bit self congratulating to post it online, but I guess one could say he wanted to make it clear for everyone what his stance was on it and felt he should have done it after accepting the award, but didn't.

But Drizzy tottaly comes off as whiny by him taking the stance that if your going to make a statement like that, not to do it about that specific album, when it fact thats the entire point.

When he mentioned that the rest of them didn't get texts, he was merely making a point; not so much as actually being mad he didn't get a text. I agree with him. Dude won, so he should've owned it and kept it moving. Why feel guilty about something that:

1. he had no control over and

2. is about a subjective matter.

No matter how dope most people thought GKMC was, it's still based on opinion. Why apologize about winning an award for something based on tastes and opinions? It was lame.

He saying the same ish everybody who disagreed with that win has said. Saying they all deserved a text is just a slick way of saying they all had better albums.

I just feel sorry for macklemore because he got a lot to prove on his next joint and even the Stans riding for him now are going to start hating if he don't come with another one they like. Can't make a "same love" every album, and his fan base is mostly made of the fickle people who really don't duck with rap.

it ain't even that.
Everybody would have been cool had he just said it was wack that Macklemore
posted it online.

It's the part about "feeling funny" that he didn't get a text too.
All the Drake defenders are overlooking that part... and of course they have to
in order to make it about some kind of imaginary hate.

So it's like, Drake feels indirectly offended by Macklemore's text, and he can be outspoken about that, but when he is directly patronized by Kendrick, he says nothing? Let's remember all this guy did when questioned about Kendrick's multiple darts at him were over-analytical reasons why he really didn't feel he was under direct attack by K Dot, and why it wouldn't make sense to attack back.

Sounds like Macklemore is an easy target and opportunity for Drake to act tough, even though he's actually making it evident he is a pussy. lol.

http://www.tmz.com/2014/02/13/drake-pissed-off-philip-seymour-hoffman-rolling-stone-cover/

Drake just spit on Philip Seymour Hoffman's grave ... throwing a bitch fit over losing the Rolling Stone cover to the dead actor.

Drake's hissy sesh started with a complaint about being misquoted in the issue regarding Kanye West's album -- but then he quickly lashes out at the mag for making a switch.

Drizzy tweeted ... "They also took my cover from me last minute and ran the issue."

Minutes later, Drake went back to Twitter and said, "RIP to Philip Seymour Hoffman. All respect due. But the press is evil."

It's a half-hearted apology, at best.

Losing the cover at the last minute is bad on RS' part, but he lost it to a deceased person so of course it's stupid for him to complain. Could they have waited and ran the issue they already agreed on? Yes, but the man just passed away and I'm pretty sure more people will buy that issue as opposed to some interview about a dude who's album has been out.

Drake about to get that bitch nigga attention even more now lol

TMZ is reporting, however, that Drake’s camp had been informed by Rolling Stone last Friday that the star hip hop musician wouldn’t be on the cover of the issue, and that the circumstances of a celebrity death leading to a cover bump weren’t that unusual at all, having occurred recently in both the cases of Whitney Houston and Lou Reed.

In response to Reply # 0

This is almost emberrasing to watch unfold...how emotional he gets over these things.

Which just adds to my thought that I literally have no idea how anyone older than 20 would call him/herself a fan of Drake.

Even if for the sake of argument we say he is talented...the shallow/immature/insecure nature of him and his music?

He just went all Mean Girls on Macklemore and Kendrick. Guess who isn't invited to Drakes next Cookie Dough themed sleep over???

I just hope, for the sake of his health, Drake doesn't develop an eating disorder to compensate for his perceived lack of attention.

Sidebar...has any emcee been in another's head this bad since Nas was in Jay's??

And Kendrick did it not with an Ether track...but just with one verse and more importantly simply getting praise. Like...Drake really thought he had that spot?? hahahaha

They always overlook great music for popular artists and their wack ass radio singles and not artists who make great albums.

In other words bitch ass artists who make minstrel tunes for the masses who don't care about quality music are complaining about not winning or bragging about how they were more corny than the next man and got an award for it....FUCK THE GRAMMYS!!!!!

Not one category did I like the nominated artists/albums, I remember when Herbie Hancock won a few years ago for an album where he went back an did a traditional jazz album, that album was so damn boring, but every album he's done before that was good to dope, but they just let him win cause he was overdue for a grammy for all the great albums he's done in the past.

I also remember when Masters At Work finally got a grammy for a remix for Curtis Mayfield remix on some random Warner Bros. compilation (it wasn't bad but it was so basic); now anybody knows about this duo they have done some of the best original & remixed songs for over two decades and out of all the joints that were ten times better, they got nominated and awarded for that track; but I am glad they finally got a grammy.

I can point out more but I just don't like the grammys, fuck it.

>I just don't like the grammys, fuck

that makes sense. b/c what you said about the Grammys ONLY honoring popular records just doesn't hold up. NARAS has been known to make some kooky choices w/the Grammys (see: Herbie winning a few yrs ago) in part to avoid awarding only the records/acts that sell the most units in a given yr. they've avoided awarding enormously popular records that SHOULD'VE won (IMO) i think to avoid exactly what you accuse them of. and to avoid confusion w/the American Music Awards - which ARE awarded based on popularity and sales as opposed to artistic merit.

fuck you.

Drake vs. Hov

Bonus beef! Aubrey hasn’t even had to apologize for this one yet: “Drake is interested in art, but he scoffs at how trendy art shout-outs have become in rap. ‘It’s like Hov can’t drop bars these days without at least four art references!’ he says. ‘I would love to collect at some point, but I think the whole rap/art world thing is getting kind of corny.’â€

Look there. Upon that mount. It is Drake. And he speaks truth.

isn't that what he should be doing? i don't really know if it's a trend if, for the most part, one guy is doing it.. also the dude is 40+.. i'd rather hear him rap about that shit than having to return a borrowed car to his uncle because he broke curfew..

he can't grasp the idea that reason why nobody else got a text is because Kendrick's album was the one that he thought was better than his, everybody else may have deserved to lose in his eyes
either way it's still stupid to jump to that sort of conclusion, but I do see where his storm troopers get their reasoning from when it comes to him; they think everything seen as shade has to have an ulterior motive or some sort of hate
if he felt he had the worst album out of all of them and he didn't mention anyone else but Kendrick, he'd have a point
