"Alchemist, rank 'em"

whether a full length with one rapper, or work as part of Gangrene (and now Ev), rank Al's work. It's been an incredible run. my picks

1. Rare Chandeliers (w/Action Bronson)
2. Greneberg (as Gangrene w/ Roc Marci)
3. Vodka & Ayahuasca (as Gangrene)
4. Albert Einstein (w/ Prodigy)
5. Cover Coup (w/ Spitta)
6. Lord Steppington (w/ Evidence)
7. Gutter Water (as Gangrene)

*haven't heard M1CS w/ Boldy, the ep w/ Willie, or Durag Dynasty

1. Rare Chandeliers: 8.85
2. Albert Einstein: 8.30
3. 360 Waves: 7.30
4. Vodka & Ayahuasca: 7.29
5. Covert Coup: 7.21
6. Russian Roulette: 6.40
7. Chemical Warfare: 6.34
8. Return of the Mac: 5.67
9. No Idols: 3.99

Rare Chandeliers is honestly one of my favorite listens already, it's just so much fun. Einstein is my favorite bleak gangster record since Betrayl's 2009 album (come to think of it I wonder if he ever released anything else...). I thought V&A was a significant improvement on the first Gangrene album which was kind of boring and felt like forced ugliness. The rest of his stuff that I've listened to enough to grade out always felt pretty professionally grimy, which meant it never clicked absolutely for me and fall out of the rotation pretty quickly. Not bad or good, just there. I thought No Idols was legitimately lame, though.

I like the Willie the Kid mixtape too.

i was kind of bored, because it seemed like Prodigy's AE-lite for me

Durag has been in my unzipped folder forever!

Willie didn't get an automatic cop because I haven't heard any of his mixtapes, just songs, which are aight to good

I feel the same as you when it comes to Boldy and Willie. Not that I have any affinity for Planet Asia either, I've never heard a solo of his, but Durag Dynasty is just dope throwback rap, I didn't think it was quite as good as Czarface but PA's no Rebel INS.

I can't w/ Action Bronson, didn't even bother w/ Rare Chandeliers. Not into the Gangrene stuff either, apart from Greneberg.
