that sonic-collage-frenetic-sampling style of an album like that or even It Takes A Nation & a few other '89/90 era classics can be almost too-busy sounding for our post-Biz-lawsuit-having ears.

However, I heard 'Eye Know' the other day when Oliver Wang brought it up on Jesse Thorn's Bullseye show & it's sounded fresh to me playing it all week.

May give the album a full listen sometime soon on the next road trip because despite growing up on 3 Feet, I can't really remember the last time I did so.

People's Instinctive is a bit scaled back though, feels like it was more just loops & it's best parts sound like classic Tribe, maybe front-to-back it can't carry me through the way the next two albums can but when you get past the interludes/jokey-cuts the best songs (Luck Of Lucien, Footprints, Bonita, Can I Kick It, Youthful Expression, Rhythm: Devoted To The Art Of Moving Butts) all still seem doper to my ears than anything on Love Movement (unless you count the Scenario Remix bonus cut).

a lot of the pre 92 albums (most of which i revisited because i was 5-10 yrs old when they dropped), I can appreciate what they did for the Art Form, but I personally don't listen to them like that.

"whatcha want" was cool but it was limp bizkit, kid rock status to what was going on in hip-hop at the time.

I haven't loved anything since Hello Nasty

No specific reason but Three the Hard Way is a pretty nostalgic listen for me.

Their first sellout record was fine. Their second sellout record was a disaster.


Their run from 198? - 2005 will always be one of the strongest runs by a collective in rap, though, and this random Spaceghostpurrp/Wiz Khalifa-infused second wind has been amazing to see happen.

Im lumping the solo and group together and think 2000 was the last year, Supreme Clientele and The W, after that some decent stuff but I can live with 93 til then and be fine

I was never a big fan of Fishscale and OBCL2 was cool when it dropped but don't play it much any more.
