Most cats here won't admit it though. Phife been kinda corny post MM. I've seen a few people even go as far as saying Phife > Tip

ESPECIALLY on Low End. But, by the time of BRL and TLM, it was a wrap for Phife. You just could HEAR his heart wasn't in it. Which is what I guess Tip was talking about in the documentary.

He's been on cruise control for some time. There was SOME feature he did not too long ago that was abysmal.

Damn, the way cats talkin in here had me thinking he was gonna be struggling to stay on beat or something. He sounds like the same Phife he's always been. Sure he's had some witty lines in the past on some radio singles, but who in the entire fuck is trying to be mr-witty-wordplay-genius on a tribute track to a friend? Lotta yall muthafuckas act like yall never heard a heartfelt rap song before. Operative word is ACT, because I know yall have. Damn. Chill.

effort to make the listener connect to how he's feeling. He should have told a story or something. The part he mentioned about them being in the hospital together or whatever? That should have been a whole verse. Give us something to make us care about what Phife has to say. Gives us something that makes us understand the type of personal connection you guys had. Not just surface level stuff like "Baatin is up there next to you". REALLY? Baatin & Dilla didn't even seem to be close like that. The lazy elementary style rapping on the song is only going to get Phife some novelty spins at best. _________________________________________

I mean, who the fuck went in thinking Phife was going to Phonte this track? It's a nice track and it's great to hear Phife flow. The fact that it's about Dilla is a nice bonus as we get a nice beat from the theme.
Hasn't Phife been sick for chunks of years over the last decade? I think it's dope he's still trying to make some tracks... It ain't like he's trying to shove mixtape after mixtape down your throat to stay relevant. plus, it ain't like you bought the gotdayum single either.

it's that the point is being pushed to the absurd by people that go hard for rappers that aren't as good as Phife is at his best it's not the best thing he's ever done, but it's not what I'd call wack I don't think it was meant as a blanket statement at all, but I can see why people wouldn't like it as well
