"Lauryn Hill to Narrate: Provocative Sundance Documentary - Concerning Vi..."

In 2011, Swedish filmmaker Göran Hugo Olsson brought a forgotten piece of American history vividly to life with "The Black Power Mixtape 1967-1975." The compelling documentary unearthed largely unseen footage shot by Swedish journalists of the era, and shined a new light on the potent Black Power movement of the time. And for his next effort, Olsson is once again digging into the archives to present a new perspective on a powerful topic.

"Concerning Violence," which will make its debut at this month's Sundance Film Festival, uses archival footage to explore African liberation movements of the 1960s and 1970s, with excerpts from psychologist/philosopher Frantz Fanon’s seminal anticolonial text "The Wretched of the Earth" — narrated by none other than rapper Lauryn Hill — as a narrative guide. And as you'll see in this exclusive teaser trailer, it's as provocative and promising mix of imagery and ideas.

Playing as part of the World Documentary program, "Concerning Violence" will have its first public screening at Sundance on Friday, January 17th at 3 PM at the Yarrow Hotel Theater. Watch the teaser below.
