>L.L. Said he was the greatest of all time. At this point in >time, no one was really arguing against this. I remember A LOT of people arguing about this...LL wasn't top dog for anybody. It was always Rakim vs. Kane vs. KRS vs. Kool G
>Is this the hip hop version of "jumping the shark"? Nah, he's had some bangers after that. Check out Ill Bomb on the Tunnel Tape (Funk Flex and Big Kap) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hd4AgT2FWMA

he had a few others after "4,3,2,1", as well. He had a joint on the Violator 2.0 album that was in the same vein as "Ill Bomb".
As far as the G.O.A.T. claims are concerned, it was a solid claim when the his G.O.A.T. album came out. Considering he was an 80's emcee who had stayed relevant, reinvented himself with the love songs in the 90's, was still making hit records......
add that to the fact that would still do a song with legitimate emcees from time to time? His claim to being the greatest wasn't ridiculous at all back then.
Did he murder himself, though? Nah. Time killed him....

Though Rick also had a lack of material compared to the others. Maybe he had a lot of dope shit saved up for Da Art of Storytelling that he hadn't used yet, where the rest of them were pretty much tapped out by the late 90's.
But anyway LL's longevity was unmatched for a long time, since he came out before all of those listed, and fell off later than some of them too.
