I'll start off by introducing myself: I'm a new member, I'm from the north of England, I study music/audio production and listen to alot of different kinds of music (though I know everyone says that...).

So I'm doing my for research project (2nd year thesis) for University. At the moment I'm just trying to sort out what my question will be, it's current wording is: Examine the impact of digital music distribution on Kwaito music. I would like to write about whether the improvement of commercial digital distribution of music has made Kwaito more lucrative, commercialised, is thriving because it's possible to easily promote and sell the music to a wider audience, has made an impact over seas or has remained relatively localised to the southern part of Africa.

For now though, I have just two questions for you (preferably for people from/currently living in/who have lived in the south of Africa).

1. Is there an official South African music chart covering single, album, and digital download sales separately, which I can find on the internet?

2. If you are from, have lived in, or currently live in South Africa, Namibia, or elsewhere in that region, do you consider Kwaito to be the dominant music? The dominant underground music? To have become dominant at the expense of it's authenticity? Why?
