they wanted an oddball, "underrated" west coast album to champion in favor of cosigning warren g, twinz, whatever else was out around that time moving into west coast cliche.
kay dee - ass, gas or cash was crazy overrated by them. shit has 1 track i fucked with ("ain't nothin' poppin") the rest was a total write-off.
and to think this got better ratings in most ny mags than "regular...the g-funk era" just because it was more "obscure", less "commercial" to them. how about it being more satisfying to listeners? lol.
i'm really glad this is one of the biases/opinions they weren't able to successfully forge rap fans into propagating into present day like they did with so many other dumb opinions you still hear people regurgitating.
