"dirty diana: the story about how MJ fucked a groupie. "

i didn't realize this as a kid,
but he clearly banged her between the second and third verses.

first verse, she's pushing up on him.
he's been down this road before... but he says this time,
she won't be successful.

the second verse is him telling himself
that she does this for everybody, and that he really should know better.

then an anguished cry. a scream of her name...
and then the song drops down to a tone with those synth strings
that sounds like that post-nut moment of clarity...

michael jackson is now crying on the record.
taking about how he can't go home with her to go to sleep
because his girl is waiting on him at home.

i always assumed that the protagonist of this record was resisting diana's advances.
but my buddy explained to me that he probably didn't. at least not successfully.
and anyway, once another woman picks up the phone
and tells your girlfriend that "your man ain't coming home because she's sleeping with me," at that point you might as well stay out.

because nobody would believe that story.
actually, the more i think about it... i don't believe it either.

the protagonist in MJ records was always up to more dirt than he let on.

this song is similar to marvin gaye's "i heard it through the grapevine"
in the sense that the protagonist of the record starts hurling accusations
that he doesn't indicate he has any basis for.

marvin: 'I bet you wonder how i knew...'
Anna: 'about what?'

he is doing this entire song based on a rumor that she was leaving
for one of her ex's. that's a lot.

cut to "who is it."
the only information we have is that the woman is gone.

what does mike leap to...
"is it my brother? is it a friend of mine?"

having no other information...
this seems like a rash conclusion. even his love songs are laced with paranoia.

i also doubt the line where he says, "she promised me in secret that she'd love me for all time."

well actually, i know what he means there.
once i was riding the subway with a friend of mine that i loved...
and it was 2:00 am and he fell asleep with his head on my shoulder.
in that moment, it really did feel like he was promising me in secret that he'd love me for all time.

but he ain't say that,
and i suspect the fem fatalle in who is it never said those words, either.

Dirty Diana was also a veil swipe at Diana Ross who turned him out mentally and everything else is left to your Imagination.

anyway heartbreak hotel, Billie Jean, Who is it, were about them themes he saw as a kid watching what went down.

I'm not defending her honour or anything, it's just that wouldbe a great, epic pop story if it was true. is there some story about diana being fast and fucking MJ and the brothers?

his on stage vibe was a direct vibe reflected off of her.

Mike was so sprung on her that if she told him to Hi jack a Wig Shop, then MJ would have had Bubbles with him and snatched Wigs out like it was no tommorow.

Diana didn't check out any of the other Brothers or even Joe, however she had a eye on MJ and it had to have freaked him out.

MJ wanted her, but then she married another cat and MJ took it personal.

MJ didn't go to her wedding and the Irony of the matter Diana Ross used "Dirty Diana" as a opening theme for her tour back 89 I believe. it tripped me out.

Mike's "lifestyle"... or the perception of his lifestyle.... that...along with the fact that Mike became more and more isolated from people who used to be around him a lot...family close friends etc....

i know Nina Simone blamed Quincy Jones, and there is truth there, however Diana Ross left a Mark on the Brother. i mean Diana was about being the biggest act and she was at one time the Biggest Act in the world and also commanded that thing that MJ longed to have.

MJ wanted her and it showed, however she moonwalked on him and of course the bigger he got the less he trusted family and folks because he paid a ultimate price for fame.

he was a walking ATM machine his whole career and everybody wanted a pinch off of him.

Being the Best was one thing, however off the stage he was looking to find piece and it wasn't there.

I mean Mike had a fascination with older iconic women....Liz ...Diana...etc... I don't think it was as much of a romantic attraction as it was just sincere admiration.... Diana Ross represented a level of charisma...class...glamour..that really represented something to Black people in general....

But much like the rest of his family..and long time close friends...over time Mike isolated himself...and others helped him do so....but disconnected himself away from people who would have been against him doing some of the things that would eventually lead to the legal problems..and his demise..

and those people weren't immune to their own personal battles...but unfortunately for Mike...he was not in contact with many people...family and friends...who would have been likely to help guide him away from things that led to his demise...

there are things that a person can be addicted to that make it completely impossible to find peace. Things that make it pointless to try and categorize rational actions on a person in such a state. That's the real tragedy to me.

MJ was into Diana Playa. when they were on those red carpets together and dressing alike on her tv shows and performing together you felt that vibe in the air.

I'm talking before thriller era. MJ was feeling her and she was throwing herself at MJ when he first got to motown IMO.

as for him and Liz well that was after the fact, and he dug her as a close friend however Diana Ross was a different animal.

MJ got more withdrawn after the thriller era and yet he still had friends and whatnot, however alot of folks took advantage of who he was and what he could do for them especially his Brothers.

MJ fans know the deal with that.

anyway MJ was feeling Diana beyond what she represented. i'll say this Usher got to go with Chilli where MJ couldn't with Diana. Stevie Wonder could see it.

honestly...much like the Brook Shields thing...I think some of Mike's fans in an effort to portray him as more "hetero" misrepresented those relationships into some sort of fantasy...

Diana always promoted Mike almost as her protégé..she pushed the idea that she discovered them...and Barry played that up to make Diana look more bout it because she was his side piece..

all the dressing alike and collabing on her tv show specials came across as older sister young brother to everyone who wasn't about trying to put things on mike to make him fit a persona...

the vibe between the two was never romantic...not even close.

and she was turned out by cats on Motown left and right. La Reid and Arista and Chilli of TLC ain't got nothing on no Diana Ross.

you see when Mike and Diana was hanging out together he wasn't even seen like that dude when he was her date on the red carpet. he was on Sony then.

Yeah Brooke Shields and Him were playing Hot Hands and high dapping.

however him and Diana ROss had a spark there.

Mike wasn't soft he played Soft on tv a few times, however Mike wasn't soft.

i don't go talking about his personal life or anybody elses on that deep deep tip and Yeah MJ was the Greatest ever to me, however i don't claim one thing or the other though i truly felt he was deep into Diana Ross and that was real. Her Son Evan Ross looks like a creation of the two if you ask me.

he never struck me as closeted as much as he seemed scared of women and sex, generally.

but anyway, he was definitely feeling diana,
probably always did, and i think he probably could have gotta her in the late 70s
if he had enough game to seal the deal.

but we all know how shy and awkward mike could be off stage,
so that wasn't happening.

and as for maxxx's assertion that diana was feeling him as a kid,
i can't speak to that, although i could see there being some
kind of flirtation there even if it was almost completely imagined in mike's head.

the relationship between diana and michael reminds me of the
crush i had on a much older girl that lived across the street from me,
and although i was clearly too young for her, whatever we had wasnt
completely one sided... even if she'd never seriously entertained the idea.

and once i was old enough to make a move,
i blew my shot because i didn't have a stitch of game.

it's scary and icky and you have to vulnerable and stuff.
and yet, i have it anyway, like most other humans on the planet.

because sex is fun, generally.
the fact that he was scared of the groupie
doesn't mean he didn't smash.

Joe was sleeping with his sons' groupies while they were on the road. In fact his youngest daughter's mother was trying to get Jackie but settled on Joe instead

Jackie was a womanizer and when he was married, he was cheating on his wife with Paula Abdul. That whole affair resulted in Jackie's wife hitting him with her car and him missing a majority of the Victory Tour

the post isn't about whether the actual man Michael Jackson had sex w/a groupie. it's about the protagonist in MJ's song 'Dirty Diana' having had sex w/a groupie in the song's lyrics. w/o regard for the inspiration behind the lyrics.

i think the 70s singer-songwriter phenomenon and later Hip-Hop's 'keep it real' aesthetic have made it so too many of us expect song lyrics to be based on actual true events. we can't fathom that the lyrics may be entirely fictional. lol

fuck you.
