"The Absence of Light Will Make A Brotha Shine - Jay Z"

Jay's best album is Reasonable Doubt. Period, end of.

In the light of Pac and BIG, at the time RD made noise, but not much. The roar of Pac and Big was too loud and Jay got drowned out.

I have often posited that, while Jay has always been an incredible lyricist, he only became a "great" due to the fact the dimming of two of the brightest lights to ever shine, Pac and Big, allowed him to come to the fore.

Jay was Hip Hop's rebound chick

I do think he was a great contender, but he didnt have what it took to be great, and only appeared to be great when the greats died.

I rest my case.

Though, he did make a few that are much worse than any Pac album, but still.

But, yay, let's talk about how Jay-Z would be nothing if BIG never died again. You know something, the ONLY reason Jay-Z was the biggest in the game for years and is closing in a 20 year career of 10+ #1 albums is because Pac and Biggie died early.

Oh, and The Blueprint > Reasonable Doubt.

Jay was gonna be big regardless. Who knows how big he would have been if Pac and BIG were around but Jay had talent. I have always said that. People were just trying to downplay BIG in the other post so things had to be put in perspective.

Other than casting my vote (for Ready To Die BTW) but going by Biggie's next album, his career trajectory was going downward in terms of quality. LAD is half bullshit, so we need to stop pretending Biggie was incapable of putting out junk.

he had some stinkers on there but half bullshit? I rocked with 16 of the 22 songs. Which songs did you not like? May be easier to ask which songs did you like?
