Really talented dude.

I mentioned him in another post as an example of how we sleep on black
artists who make "good music" without ratchetry and club songs in this day and age.

Point proven.

After making album after album of really good R&B music, he finally went for the
straight up club track with "Shots Fired". It didn't catch on, so I'm glad folks are
paying attention. Previously he would just feature a popular rapper like TI or
someone to generate some kind of buzz. It's a shame we don't value straight
up good R&B no more.

let alone music in general. better behind the scenes as his work for jamie foxx's unpredictable showcased him better than his own career.

he has some talent, however too corny to make it solo and this broke LSG thang is super duper Corny

No way! Dude is a very good vocalist and musician. I dont think Atlantic records would sign a 3rd tier act. The last three albums are very good.

Dude is not even close to being corny. TGT has better music but LSG has better vocalists.

atlantic has had corny acts in there roster and he happens to be one of them. nobody sweats no tank, 3rd tier is being kind, more like a 5th tier turkey in a watered down era. because that is a diss to Eric Benet who is a true 3rd tier act,i owe Tank an Apology because he is a 5th tier act. my bad

Ginuwine is 3rd tier. Tyrese is 4th tier.

LSG had a money track and Gerald Levert's impact more than Ginuwine, tyrese and Tank Combine.

Keith Sweat all them turkeys put together and Johnny Gill as well.

even the comic view house band wouldn't have no jive turkey act like Ginuwine, tyrese and tank as a house band and for the record I like those Brothers for what they have accomplished and they are Kool, however musically they are wick wack

me calling him 3rd tier is a Compliment since nobody outside a certain circle know who he is let alone his generic songs. the best stuff he ever did was for Jamie foxx and some things for aaliyah.

Tank is a prolific songwriter, a great singer He has a huge catalog of unreleased material Although he first was noticed in 2001 with his debut album Force Of Nature He was behind the scenes years before that singing backup vocals for both Ginuwine and Aaliyah He also was selling his songs to artists such as Dave Hollister

His debut single "Maybe I Deserve" caused quite a stir because of it's stark direct and frank lyrics The album itself was very spotty and frankly not too good Tank did not find his footing with writing yet and the songs were all over the place musically Only "Slowly," and "My Freak" hinted at what was to come Otherwise songs like "Kill 4 You," "Bounce and Grind," and "Street Life" was pandering to the R Kelly crowd who liked shock "street" lyrics Ironically, a discarded track "Treat Yourself" was almost better than any track on the album

It was on his second cd "One Man" where Tank found his writing style and the album shinned because of it Starting with the single "One Man" you can hear how he matured Despite this he did have a few misteps, trying to sound relevant such as on the cut he did with Baby (yes Lil' Wayne's adopted father) "Party Like A Thug" and an unfortunate duet with Mannie Fresh "Let Me Live" Tracks such as "Supa Sexy Sexy," "My Place," and "Better Man" more than made up for those

Tank joined up with the production/writing team The Underdawgs and with them he came into his own His next cd would not appear for five years but in the interim his songs were sung by various artists

In 2007 Tank released his masterpiece "Sex, Love and Pain" The album flowed and was sequenced similar to Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On" The songs chronicled his experiences with love as before but now he was a celebrity and so things got kinkier and more intense.

The album ran the gauntlet of love from "Wedding Song' through "I Hate You" The stand outs are "Coldest," "Please Don't Go," and "Heart breaker"

The next cd "Now Or Never" was not as dynamic as it's predecessor It had its moments such as "Emergency" and "You Mean That Much" but songs like "Foreplay" with Chris Brown canceled them out What the album did showcase however was Tank's great vocals and no song shinned more than his cover of Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me" While her version is still the definitive even if only for Bruce Hornsby's piano playing Tank's version is not too far behind While the song is the best on the cd It is also one of the more mediocre songs There are two versions, one with a band and one with him on solo piano The track with instrumentation is too busy but the one with him on the piano is the joint

"Diary Of A Mad Man" was a mix tape affair Nothing was interesting on it except for "Under Rated" Up and coming singer Luke James was featured on a track but it didn't do him justice Luke James is one of the singers out there who could give Tank a run for his money

Tanks's latest cd "This Is How I Feel" has a similar feel as it's predecessor, some nice tracks but nothing to make you play the whole thing from beginning to end Chris Brown makes another unimpressive appearance as well as Busta Rhymes and T I What saves the disc are two stellar track The melancholy, haunting title track and the autobiographical "Under Rated" (which was on the mix tape) both are sung from the heart and showcase Tank's great writing abilities
