"Eminem "Didoed" Hip Hop 4ever w/ White Girls Singing the Hook"

used it in a sentence:

I was listening to that new Danny Brown and I love Danny Brown, but I felt some kind of way when one of the songs...the track was already a little too "Will.I.Am", but then...when Becky came on and "Didoed" the track I felt myself losing interest.

Hot of the presses :

http://youtu.be/NlmezywdxPI

He already sounds like Big Bird breaking bad...but then to complete his trojan horse act of co-opting the artform (of Hip Hop) he introduces the most "girl friendly" rap music in the history of rap music...B.D. (Before Drake).

it was a violation of the 10 years before you sample rule as well. Song was still on the charts when he dropped his.

that said since em is white is it technically "didoing" in his case? who would be the first artist to officially 'dido' it. LOL!!

They'd been about as close to batting 1.000 as humanly possible before that album. Man, I remember my brother and I listening to that album for the first time and being hurt at how bad it was. And I don't even mind "Daddy's Little Girl." That "Hang on Kid" and "Letting Off Steam" we're the only things remotely listenable on that album.

they were hyping it hard but I wasn't sure if there was really a hook on a personality/musical level besides 'first female MC signed to Def Jam' (who I don't believe had missed back then, plus had recently picked up EPMD).

At the time I think the roster on the rap side (no need to bring up Oran 'Juice' Jones or Allyson Williams) had been Beasties, LL, PE, Slick Rick, 3rd Bass, EPMD & Nice n Smooth who all went Gold/platinum.

I feel like Nikki D (either her, No Face or The Afros first and really all three contributed) sorta took the bloom off the Def Jam rose & they were never quite the same before having to sell off part of the company.

w/ Trisha Yearwood singing the hooks on schitt like "The Weekend (Going Up North)".

Rick Rubin is about to call all his Johnny Cash geezers, we might even see Anthony Keidis tinging on this future album of the year winner.

that's a great track, and firmly in line in 'respectable' uses of vocals over rap shit.

This is a good post however, cause it felt like every other wanna be crossover song was a Dido track when Em first popped it off.

featuring Becky on the hook?

And I'd expect a track like that to have Kelly Price or R.Kelly on the track, AND for the track to sound like some "between the sheets" type of stuff...not that epic swirly molly music I expect lil' Wayne protegee's on.

the track is seriously a problem for me and that album...cause it's LONG as hell too in comparison to other joints.

then followed by that "Wonder Bread" schitt?

Only time it veers closely into bad taste is when she starts vamping I think "Away"

I think the reason why I didn't have a beef with 25 Bucks is because I am pretty familiar with Purity Rings work and in my ear HE'S the one out of place on that track(they've cemented their lane in indie pop w/ trap beats). Keep in mind that me not having beef with it doesn't mean I don't feel it's totally disposable btw.

Wow...are there others like you?

You know...I don't just go at folks necks...I really like music. I just have a low threshold for b.s./misinformation.

I look forward to reading more of your posts on just about anything.

p.s.- Float On doesn't really count as being "Didoed" because the girl is used more like a seasoning...not really like a feature. does that make any sense? like there's no real "spotlight" on homegirl like the chick on "25 Bucks".

Funny enough, as much slack Side B gets for selling out, 25 Bucks is the biggest offender by far of tailoring to his 'new' crowd, they had one of the highest rated records on Pitchfork last year and he basically lifted one of their tracks wholesale, vocals included

but I'm afraid he might have conceded too much with this album.

I don't want to say yet...I've had a hard time sitting down and listening to it and paying attention...but that track had me pumping all kinds of breaks.

That's the kind of schitt that will increase ticket sales though, and KEEP pitchfork on his lap...just like the "blow job press" he got earlier this year.

It just takes that edge out of the equation though.

Like that world he created on XXX...it's Michigan...this time of year, cats are restless, experimental.

I didn't think XXX was "strip hop" at all. At all.

It sounded like some weird mash up of 3 a.m. CBC programming/Detroit overnight radio and lots of dope.

This one...the tracks try to capture the ethos of XXX but forgo THAT WORLD. In exchange for it...the experimental stuff feels more generic in a "strip hoppy" way to me.

It's clear Danny learned a lot from his brush with G-Unit about how the game worked, but I'll never forget Mainframe playing me "I can't find my mind" and thinking..."HOLY SCHITT!!!" it was so next level, now...it's like he's stuck on tour and on that posse cut from A$AP's album.

I don't know.

But...if he didn't give them guys the chance to make some "crossover" money too...everybody would say he was a "wack" "sellout" "hater".

He doesn't understand that his appeal is the fact that he's shaped and looks like a "thumb print" and sings like a ATL Sugar-Britchesed Terence Trent D'arby (to folks who think Michael Bolton was "soulful").

So he's unaware that the joke is on him cuz he's cashing checks.

Or maybe he knows and feels obligated to get them some checks.

Either way...they might as well hurry up with that "Dungeon Family on Ice" jammy while folks are still (kinda) up in the air.

He white and he got over with it and nobody sweated it then or now, the Problem with EM is that he didn't go down this road more enough because the song showed a more understandable Vulnerable side.

but nowadays nobody cares. and He is White and had that right.
