Jennifer Hudson has often had a hard time finding production that fits the way that she tends to belt out all of her words....other than her "Dreamgirls" work, she's only really hit the nail on the head for a general audience with "Spotlight," though I think "All Dressed in Love" and "No One's Gonna Love You" also worked, even though they weren't hits.
This right here, though? I think Pharell nails it for her. Real easygoing track, and she rides the groove pretty well. What do you think?

I've never heard a single solitary song by Melba Moore, and I don't know anyone who has -- matter of fact as a kid I was clueless as to why she was famous. So I don't know whether this is similar to any of her music lol

(actually, I kinda understand where you're coming from... because while I knew her name very well when I was growing up and loved looking at her face, a lot of her music seemed way too "grown" for me)
i was born in 1980. 75% of disco songs are the same song to me. including that one, which i'm 99% i never heard before i heard 5 seconds of it just now and promptly closed the window.

Heard this song the other day...
J Hud needs to leave american producers alone...
Unless they are old ones no one has really worked with a voice like hers in a long ass time..
Pharrell is definitely tryna harness her inner Chaka but his writing doesn't match..

I think this is solid for sure, but almost sounds TOO from the era, to where folks who loved that sound back then may enjoy it, but even some of them won't care because it's not really from that era, so the nostalgia factor won't work.
A lot of songs interpolate 80's songs, or even have a strong 80's influence...but it still has a modern slant to it. This here sounds like it's made for the soundtrack of a Black movie based in the 80's, almost like if Dreamgirls was set in the 80's and not the 60's.
