Another good subject would be "Best Use Of Motown Sound You Thought Wasn't, But Actually Is", and #1 would have to be The Capitols' "Cool Jerk", released on the short lived Atlantic/Atco subsidiary label Karen Records, but recorded in secret by the Funk Brothers.

They had the chops and the production and all that. I will say that although they were able to get the motown 'sound'....they were usually really lacking on the compositional side. Not nearly as many memorable melodies and songs as Motown.
