"the brain orgasm you get when a layer gets added to a perfect pop song....." Sun Sep-08-13 09:29 PM by Joe Corn Mo
pop music is often called a guilty pleasure. i love it without shame. few things in life give me deeper music chills than a perfectly executed pop song.
this year, i've heard a lot of pop music that gives me the brain-gasms that i used to get from music when I was younger. the most recent entry...
every time the hook comes back around, they add more layers of synths. and I just ran this song back 5 times so I could hear the gradual buildup to the synthesizer explosion at 3:52.

it might not have been received as widely as Thicke but as a whole I feel like the songs being written here were done with a pension for accessibility and thought out catchy melodies, Perfect. maybe not but close to it.

that 'OOOH!' right in the center of 'Don't Stop Til You Get Enough' is perfect. i've posted about it before. i like watching ppl dance to the song b/c folks tend to have some pose ready for that moment. and then the record is just on fire in that 2nd half as the adlibs come more frequently.

the knock on the door before valen's guitar solo on "beat it."
the dissonant harmonies at the end of the lady in my life "ohh girl let me keep you warm. you are the LADY..."
the off key adlibs in the middle of "i can't help it." "i cant help it, if i wanted too... i wunt elp it, eeeeen it i cud!"
the synthesizer build up that occurs while he's spinning on the table before he does the "ow!" that breaks the windows in the middle of smooth criminal.
the remember the time video mix, with just the finger snaps "do you remember girl?! *snap* *snap* on the phone. you and me! till dawn! 2 or 3. a-what-about-us. GIRL!"
the synths that happen right before the fade out on "human nature" after the final plead of "whyy"
