if you've never seen him perform it outdoors in front of 20 thousand, with the live band and the loud-soft crescendos and the insane energy, then your opinion on the subject is uninformed.
and if you have seen him perform it and you still disagree, then your opinions are just shitty in general and thus unworthy of note.
thx, mgmt

amongst his singles in terms of importance it would certainly make the cut.
And live it really does kill.
Did so on his solo tour the first time I saw it around 05/06.
It was the best of the Nas solo cuts on the tour with Junior Gong (great show overall even if the non-Distant Relatives song selections were basically either his or Bob Marley's biggest pop-charting hits).
Also one of the best moments of the 'Common & Friends Common Ground Foundation' benefit show at the Hollywood Palladium which was like a who's-who rap-all-star show featuring the kind of Okay artists you'd expect Comm to bring (Questo/Thought, Mos/Kweli, De La) along with some other big dawgs (Nas, Luda), old-school legend surprise cameos (Heavy D, Latifah) and other genuine 'oh shit' moment surprises (an un-billed Kanye mini-set in his first public appearance post-Taylor Swift VMAs, the real MF DOOM coming out during De La's portion).
But yeah anyway, when Nas came on (a little less than halfway into the event) slid my way up to about 12-15 feet from stage, L's were being passed around on either side of me & watched him cast a spell with that cut on a crowd that wasn't necessarily there for him but all big enough rap fans to recognize the moment.
He wisely ended on that one & in doing so left Luda to take a loss trying to follow it, he truly looked (dude is pint-sized even by rapper standards) and sounded like a lightweight by comparison.
I'd say in a night that seemed to be filled with endless highlights from a wide spectrum of artists, 'One Mic' & Kanye doing 'Flashing Lights' were the two biggest tape-measure home runs (honorable mention to Rock.Kokaine.Flow but not enough people knew that joint to really take hold of the audience in the same way).
