>Having a mentor as well as a producer in his ear would've >benefitted him, damn if I can think of who tho. Dre's version >of "Bitch I'm Back" was dope, but I'm not sure if >Aftermath/Shady/G-Unit was the place for him either. Grand >Hustle maybe? *shrugs*
So, that's where that "Bitch I'm Back" track came from? He was signed to Shady for a bit? DID NOT KNOW THIS! I always wondered where that track came from. It seemed kind of odd...
And, yes, he DEFINITELY needs guidance, even now on the independent tip.
>All in all, nobody can truthfully call him washed up. He >didn't hit as big as some (myself included; he was my fave >from the Houston explosion) hoped he would, but by all >indications, he straight, financially. His recent musical >output has been hit or miss, and he's not as known in the >mainstream as he would have been with Star Trak, but who's to >say he wanted to be?
You know what, I'm fine with him not wanting to mess with Star Trak, but, I'm like, if you're complaining about the musical direction they were taking you, then I expect that you're output, when no longer tampered with, should be pristine. >And from what I heard, he was in "Jimmy jail" at Interscope >and the only way he could get an album out was to link with >Pharrell. Maybe it was a "one and done" deal, who knows.
Honestly, as bad as that may sound, I don't think being forced to mess with Pharrell is a horrible position to be in.
Come to grips with the fact that most OKP's are of the Nut Hugger lineage, so, if you' re not part of the little cliques that exist 'round here, your posts will probably tank like Souljaboy's album sales.
