had a good feeling about this after hearing "All Of Me" and "Made To Love" and "The Beginning" and this whole album has that feel, lot of great songs on here...
I could see this getting a lot of critical love and being a grammy aoty nominee...
granted, only 1 straight through listen but I'm enjoying the hell out of this, didn't love his last few albums, only JL album I truly enjoy is his 1st one

Yes. I didn't like his last album at all...his second album is actually really great. Different direction, less R&B/rap blah blah...maybe more kinda Elton John/Burt Bacharach kinda mellow crooning but the album is great.
I like the singles I heard off this one...will probably cop it this weekend.

Hella producers credited to one track though. It's a Ye thing I guess. Good to see Q-Tip, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, Bink!, Doc Mckinney and 88-Keys listed among the producers. Bink! got another track on the deluxe version. Pharrell too.

The production is really diverse...not a bunch of looping. Kanye is listed on Prod. credits on a bunch of it & you can hear his influence. Crazy how Ye put little to no effort on anyone else's projects on GOOD but he's all over this.
If feels like there isn't any promo behind this album at all...while he put out 2 singles, they felt like setups to something bigger but nope. Hopefully this ends up on a few underrated lists this year.

sounds more like a 'turn that hi hat down' type of thing to me

A lot of the Credits has Ye's name 2nd,3rd or 4th....but it really sounds like he really did influence the music here. Especially compared to Seans,2 Chainz or Pusha's music so far.

Maybe I need to listen to it more....I liked about 1/2 of it so far. I like the old soul sample shit more than the "Ordinary People Pt. 36" sounding tracks. Something about JL I just like a lot. His shit with the Roots was great.

the album is pretty bloated but there's a lot of good/interesting stuff on it. i think he did himself a service by having kanye at the helm, the producers he enlisted gave it a bit more of a punch than his last two records.
