not a fan of either. so i have no dog in this race. like really... i don't give a shit. but i will just say this: if j. cole responded seriously, to anybody... he'd kill them. dude is a battle-rapper feigning like he has substance and concepts to prevent being backpack-shamed. and that's why most people aren't feeling him... because he's phony and his music stinks of it.
but if he ever went full wake-up show circa 1999 on somebody, you'd see what i mean.

its funny because as much as obviously kendrick has been influenced by west coast people....his most clear influence sonically and flow wise is OBVIOUSLY outkast, specifically andre 3k....like...his flow at times....those robot type voices he uses....the type of beats he uses scream organized noise sometimes too....the tackling socially "conscious" issues but at the same time making accesible music....
