"how many rap songs would you estimate you know every word to?"

conservative estimate: i'd say at least 500.

just think of all the time out of your life that took and how much further ahead you would likely be if you would have dedicated that time to developing a skill or learned craft (like a musical instrument as one possible avenue).

a mind is a terrible thing to waste.

pretty sure my musical training helped me in law school.
and i only wanted to play music b/c i listened to so much of it.

the premise of this post is dumb.

the assumption is that if you weren't listening to music,
you'd be writing the great american novel.
the truth is, if music heads didn't have music...
they'd just be worse off emotionally, intellectually, and maybe even physically.

this post makes little to no sense.

umm... most people that start learning instruments
start learning to play instruments because they heard some music they liked.

if you don't "waste time" listening to music,
you'll never learn to play shit.

and like i said, all the current research on cognative theory that i've read
pretty much says that "distractions" help you learn.

but whatever.
just post what you want, i guess.

it doesn't matter.

I know all of P.S.A., but I know I mess up some words.

I used to know all of Boyz N the Hood, but you'd have to spark off each verse these days.

I can't understand how people memorize lyrics, rap or otherwise. I always remember the melody but the words takes a special love I haven't had since I was in high school when I learned those two songs.

You only listen to an album twice, rate it and move on to the next.

"Web"

There's a couple others I can recite along with while listening to it like Game Theory and Paid in Full and probably more I cant think of, but I couldn't say all the words off the top of my head.

Although when a song comes on that I remember, I'm stunned at how I could repeat the lyrics verbatim

I still know It Was a Good Day by heart

I'm way better with a verse than an entire song
