the stretch of me and my old school, package store, red eye, is some really heavy stuff. the piano solo runs when the drums drop out at the end of red eye? the flute and soulful guitar noodling on me and my old school...the warmth from the vinyl crackle with the bounce from the 808ish drums...that soft VST rhodes-ish sounding synth that comes in on Package Store and the muffled atmospheric chopped sample in the background throughout...so, so good. i wish he'd release instrumentals for all of his projects. i like him a lot as a rapper, and he does have a lot of substance at times, but i'd never guess guy who raps as much as he does about hoes/strippers/cars/money would be spending hours alone making stuff this nuanced and deep sounding.
