"What one artist have you listened to more than any other in your life?"

Throughout your entire life, from when you were a kid 'til now, records, radio, videos, everything. What single artist appears on the cumulative playlist of your life the most?

I'm thinking mine might be Zeppelin.

Vol.2 was my favourite albums at 14, and I've listened to all his solo work since. The Blueprint is one of my fav albums of all time, and I played the shit out of Vol.3 (the UK/better version) & The Black Album when they dropped.

My folks were hippy types that loved the beatles. I started listening to James Brown when I was around 12 after getting introduced to him by friends. But the heavy JB rotation in my life since has probly made up for the beatles-heavy early years.

it's hard to say. but Wayne leads my last.fm profile (active since 2004) by 1,200 listens over the next closest, so it's pretty clearly been him over the past 8-9 years. I'm not sure there was enough Beatles/Radiohead/Jay before then to really counter attack.

I'd like to say OutKast, or The White Stripes, but they never had enough material to really go for the gold if I'm being honest with myself. There WAS a period from probably 2001-2003 that was all I cared about, though.

buying their LP's, CD's.

Saw them in 1990 and 2010.

Was at the Eddie Hazel tribute concert in NYC that took place very soon after Eddie's passing.

Eminem was an every day listen for me from ages 11-14 which would account for why he'd be in the lead. But as of October 2006 my 5 most listened to artists according to last.fm are:

The Roots
Kanye West
Jay-Z
Nas
Lupe Fiasco

I'm such a huge fan of their live stuff and they hold a special place to me cause they broke me out of the trap of only listening to black artists when I was growing up. I'd heard tons of stuff that moved me but I was unsure how to approach it.....but with Jamiroquai I didn't give a fuck. I liked it and I was gonna go all in. They're not the best band looking back......but they got me in the direction I needed to go.

So for example it might be CSNY, but only if you include their solo and duo stuff ex-Neil Young (and if you include Neil solo, it's probably a wrap).

Or it might be Fairport Convention, especially if you include their tens of spinoffs and solo careers. (Sandy Denny, Richard Thompson, Iain Matthews, Matthews Southern Comfort, early Steeleye Span, Morris On!, later Fairport, etc.)

If you don't count either of those two, my guess is it might be either The Boom (a Japanese act that dominated my CD players for the last 5 years of heavy CD listening of my life, ca. 1997-2002) or Paul Simon due to heavy exposure as a kid to the S&G records (but then again, we have a gap in definition, but for all intents & purposes S&G was Paul Simon solo with Arty on add'l vox, that sounds harsh b/c Art's a nice guy but c'mon) combined with Graceland's nonstop rotation in our house when I was mid-teens.

-------
so I'm in a band now:

28. "Probably Slum Village/J-Dilla Or DITC"
In response to Reply # 0
Tue Aug-06-13 02:06 PM by Dj Joey Joe

It's like once he came onto the scene, I've pretty much can't go too long without hearing something produced or J-Dilla rhyming, or associated with J-Dilla; before him though I was listening to anything DITC related, and I still do listen to a lot of DITC stuff but not as much as I do J-Dilla.

As much as I like jazz I don't think I've ever listened to just one artist or even one album over & over though, same goes for r&b artists, I would never be too obsessed or dedicated to one artist or group even though it is some albums I've liked a whole lot.

Like this week all I've been listening to is Slum Village "Detroit Deli", a bootleg copy on cassette of the pre-Fantastic Vol.2, the first Roots sandwiches, and ATCQ "Love Movement", lol.
