I don't think Jeru and Primo get enough credit for what they did together and how it changed things

it's one of those records that was just different..stripped down with a weird off beat sample... and women loved it.

I mean, sure, that was crazy.

The poster intimated towards some genre-changing effect Premier & Jeru's pairing had & I was wondering what that meant.

I want more of this shit. Love to hear the producer and MC talking about how a song that became a classic came together. I'd love to see the Bomb Squad do this with Rebel or Black Steel.

That is still one of the hardest records I have ever heard. The energy you get when the beat drops is unreal. And the Onyx scratch? Sheeeiiiiiiiit

I have to admit that many were already digging production and remixes from Premier but when "Come Clean" dropped it basically went left field with it and had people heads blown and the sugar on top was how Jeru was flowing over that beat.

What's ill about Jeru's lyrics is how each line could stand on it's own, and even be used as a chorus; it's like he only used the correct amount of words, no extra filler phrases.

Also didn't Premier say years ago that the "Come Clean" beat was originally made for an radio ad on Hot97 and when Jeru heard the beat he asked for it?

and conscious cats alike?

This track definitely. Wu-tang. It seems like it was a lot more common back in the day.

Trying to think of a recent track that does that.
