>But music is subjective, so it is what it is, lol >
I will agree with that but sometimes people's opinions don't add up and become hypocritical.
>>Illmatic >>> Reasonable Doubt >I'll give you that. Illmatic is the best album of all time >IMO. > >>It Was Written >>> Vol 1 >I'd put these as equal. I thought Vol. 1 had lots of Jay's >best songs before he fully went into the commercial mode on >Vol. 2. You Must Love Me, Lucky Me, Friend Or Fie 98, Rap >Game/Crack Game, Where I'm From, Imaginary Players. Classic >Jay records. >
I'm a HUGE Vol 1 supporter. But it is in no way a better album that IWW. Shit, IWW is better than RD to me.
>>I Am >>> Vol 2 >Disagree. I Am had Big Things, one of Nas' worst songs, IMO. >Vol. 2 had Jay really killing his commercial lane hard with >Hard Knock Life, Money Ain't A Thing, Can I Get A. Then he was >KILLING shit with Timbaland with Nigga What/Nigga Who and >Paper Chase. Street edge was still there with Reservoir Dogs >and A Week Ago. I didn't think the weaker songs "It's Alright" >and "It's Like That" weighed it down too much since they were >near the end. > >I Am as its original leak was definitely better than Vol. 2. >But the production was meh, really took away from the >replayability of what would've been dope songs, IMO. >Definitely had some gems though: Nas Is Like and NYSOM2 were >both incredible, Undying Love, We Will Survive. But the ones >that were outside of his realm were weak, IMO: Dr. Knockboot >was weak, You Won't See Me Tonight felt forced to me (haven't >listened to it in a while though, maybe that's changed), Big >Things was GARBAGE. > >>Nastradamus >>> Vol 3 (I don't like either but Project >>Windows, Life We Chose and Last Words are the best 3 joints >on >>either) > >Disagree there too. Vol. 3 only had three weak joints: Pop 4 >Roc, S. Carter and Things That U Do. So Ghetto, Do It Again, >Dope Man, NYMP, Come and Get Me, all crazy. >
I can not begin to tell you how much I fucking hate Vol 2 and Vol 3 and this is where the hypocrisy comes in. Because if you like those bullshit ass pandering albums then you have no right to down I Am or Nastradamus period. At the end of the day, Nas is a much better MC than Jay and is much more creative with his concepts.
>>I'm not sure what to make of Dynasty, The Firm and QBs >Finest
>>Stillmatic = Blueprint > >Agreed > >>God's Son >>> BP 2 > >Agreed > >>The Black Album >>> Street's Disciple > >Agreed > >>Hip-Hop Is Dead >>> Kingdom Come > >Agreed > >>Untitled = American Ganster > >Happy to see someone give props to Untitled, album gets way >too much hate, IMO. I give American Gangster the benefit here, >but only by a hair. It's very, very close. But it's very close >to a tie, probably close. >
See above. I like American Gangster but like I said, Nas is simply the better MC and is just more creative.
>>Life Is Good >>> BP 3 > >Agreed > >>MCHG is just kind of there until Nas drops again. > >>Distant Relative >>> Best of Both Worlds 1 & 2 > >Yeah, but I think Watch The Throne is much closer to Distant >Relatives.
Watch The Throne isn't close to Distant Relatives. DR is a special album.
You also left out The Firm, which is worse than >Best of Both Worlds 2 at the very least. >
I mentioned The Firm above with Dynasty and QB. And there is no way an album that contains Firm Fiasco, Phone Tap and Executive Decisions is worse than that bullshit Jay and Kells put out. I don't care how bad he rest of the Firm is (it does still have Desperados, I'm Leaving and the last joint is tough).
>>And then tack on The Lost Tapes for Nas and this shit is >>beyond a ridiculous comparison. Even if you give Jay >>Blueprint and American Gangster, which I like both a lot. >
