http://www.alphapuprecords.com/art/jonwayne-620x349.jpg

just saying.
part of a long lineage of Stones Throw's white virgin basement dwellers who relatively convincingly make Black music that sounds 20-50 years old.

he's not the future of anything.
if anything, he's the past, delivered in a much wacker vehicle.
he could be a great rapper,
i'm not listening based on his style rating sitting at a flat 0.
he'd have to be an idiot savant/best rapper of all-time to excuse that style rating.
and i'm not exclusively style-focused like pitchfork when it comes to music by any means, but even if your talent meter is at 100,
if your style is at 0 - you're a shitty act that's not ready for exposure imo.

i posted about him like 5 years ago.
he's made about 100 more fans since.
god bless him for following his dreams.

which means his career was already circling the drain, in music industry terms...

but for somebody of such little value as him, it's probably his dream actualized.

the criticisms i levied against him having 0 style, despite his talents, was the point.

actually engaged what i was saying, the concepts i've introduced for what they are instead of trying to shout me down because i insulted some act you fancy we could still have conversations on here...

but because i hurt your feelings at some point, i obviously have no insight and idiots like you, shockzilla, austin follow me around from thread to thread trying to berate me.

for instance, your complete overlooking of the talent/style/exposure rating system.
which, for me anyway (since i conceived it last year), was a completely new way of looking at music/musical acts that made sense of a lot of things.

but it's always semantics.
it's always hurt feelings over disagreements.
...even in 2013.
you never grow, you never move anywhere mentally.
dealing with minds through lines of texts who are doomed to be trapped by the limited allowed understandings of a msg board poster from the 00's.

thanks for reading. thanks for replying. have a nice night.

You're going to increasingly great lengths to justify your dislike of current pop music. It's just not very interesting.

Sorry that it's hard for you that you're getting older. Maybe put some energy into areas of your life that do provide you joy.

it's not about getting older as it is about standards.

i can separate myself from nostalgia, my feelings, my memories and judge something for what it is on a creation basis.

the reason "older people" find stuff wrong with "today" is because a standard or standards that used to hold a significant weighting are no longer met, catered to and deviated from.
not just in music, but everything.
food, clothing, every artistic medium.
there used to be standards that, grew "passe", and were no longer catered to... which for many people leaves an unavoidable void.
i posted about this, at least a year ago if not more.
where were you?

have you ever considered that the level i post and think at is beyond you and you have to find some simple reduction to anchor your comprehension?

it's like that one goof, guinness, who followed me around for at least 6 months doing a quez impression from 2005 rather than actually trying to understand, engage, and god forbid, evolve and sophisticate his own understandings of dealings pertaining to not just music but life in general.

This is a strange thread

Dudes in here are LITERALLY saying he loses points because they don’t like the way he dresses.

And again, kind of like the Joey B thing, for a site that I thought was about rap music, most of us don’t really like artists who pay homage or make the kind of rap music we like. Dude is spitting dope rhymes over dope beats- but not only is it not enough to get love, its not enough to avoid hate.

It’s incredible how much the blogs, Pitchfork, etc impact taste on here. You could do a serious study on groupthink in this place.

As for me, I’d consider myself a big fan of dude. He is very talented and getting better. The track that won me over was “I’m a Poor Man” but I can’t link it right now.

I slept at first because too but the tracks speak for themselves.

(Haven’t checked his instrumental albums. Well, I gave Thanks, Bro a spin and I liked it. **shrugs**)

I’ll say this though-

In order for Jonwayne to get love on the Lesson he has to do a few things-

***First, switch his flow up to sound like another great. Ghostface is taken. Maybe someone from the South?

***Add to the gimmick by getting a cooking show or some thing along those lines.

***He should try and get a show on MTV and be naked on the cover of his next album.

***Two words: trap beats. We like to pretend we like Madlib and similar production the Lesson, but give us trap beats. A lot of us like to think in a previous life we were drug kingpins. Gold grill wouldn’t hurt.

***Shock lyrics. You can rap about nonsense, but if you sprinkle it with jokes about rape and f*gs we will eat it up. (see: Style)

***He should try and fill his album up with “scatting” sounds that make him sound like a spaztic mental patient. We will call it “original”.

***Stop running with Zeroh, Jermiah Jae, etc. We don’t know who those dudes are because they haven’t been on Fallon. He should invest in a home studio so the really cool kids will come over. Odd Future, Black Hippy, etc. Have them all over your album, most of us judge based off association.

The tape is good. This is the first full length album from Jon I've listened to. I dig his voice and he's got some damn good couplets and punchlines.

The children of Madvillian continue to live. That album has really impacted the rap landscape even more than we give it credit for

Anyway, yeah 3.5/5
