"Egregious misunderstandings of song/lyric meanings."


  

          

Today I was taking a shower after working in the yard, and started singing "Hey 19." No particular reason, just happened to be stuck in my head. While lathering and singing, I realized I couldn't remember the first verse--only the second, that starts "Hey 19, that's 'retha Franklin."

So I got out, grabbed my laptop, and googled "Hey 19," and one of the first hits was a youtube video of it, so I clicked that, and as I listened and heard/remembered the line, "Way back when in '67," I noticed that the guy who uploaded the video wrote the comments, "From their album "Gaucho" (In honor of my daughter's 19th birthday)."

Uh, dude. I don't know what your relationship with your daughter is, but...

Add on, or let it go wood, I reckon.

It's not a subtle song, ya know? I mean, you could forgiven for not grasping Randy Newman's irony or Donald Fagen's metaphor, but Bruce is NOT difficult. Shit is dark.
