1 man, 1 camera. great runs.
0 style, 0 exposure.
pick your poison...

no wonder people would rather worship pharrell's m7 playing no chops having ass.

the talent/style/exposure model in a nut shell.

also, although he isn't "ugly," per se...
kanye west is not a handsome man.

i wouldn't describe lady gaga as pretty.

and for the record, stevie wonder was fine as hell in the 70s.
so this doesn't exactly prove the point you are trying to make.

thank you for reading my reply.

i'm glad you're inspired to say something and actually take the time to read what i post.
so thank you for that commitment.

but i'd rather this have 0 replies than have your obtuse deductions derail my point with trivializations.

if you don't "get it" how i meant it, that's fine.
it's not for you.

yet here you are, without fail...

you're free to read what i post if you want,
but i'm asking, politely, that you please stop replying to my threads.

thanks.

i'm sure if you had diverted just some of the spare time you've spent out of your life trying to belittle me into improving yourself in some way, who knows what you could've accomplished by now...

I'll give you the context. This guy David Bamma has multiple aliases and makes extremely naive and misguided posts based on a very delusional assumption that he is musically knowledgeable. He knows alot about hip hop from 2000 and on. Has absolutely no knowledge of any music that is not hip hop....or was made before 2000. Which would all be fine if he didn't come off as such a condescending know-it-all. He constantly glorifies the significance of his posting history on here....claiming that magazines and reporters have stolen his ideas from here. He threatened to stop posting once and referred to it as his 'denoument'. He's obsessed with changing this board to suit his own interests....campaigning for rules that disallowed any posts to be made about what he called 'old music' (pre-2000). Also of note...he never actually talks about 'music'....he's a scenester and basically wants this place to turn into a 'what's hot, what's not' board without any analysis. Basically, everything he contributes is in direct contrast with the original mission statement of this board. He seems to think any actual music analysis or consideration of music that is not post 2000 hip hop makes us irrelevant.

Pop music has been more about that hook, that unique sound or that great beat, ever since the Beatles and the Beach Boys. While both were talented, their studio experimentation and ear for an irresistible hook (both vocal and sonic) laid the groundwork for popular music thereafter to emphasize finding that hook over all else. Sort of like how Spielberg made a great movie and a summer blockbuster in "Jaws," but ever since, they've only been trying to emulate the blockbuster part.

And once music became a video and image medium as much as an aural one, it was game over for non-stylish uggos who can play. You wanna be that guy, go play jazz or metal, and enjoy your day job because you're gonna need it.

That said... I'm not sure why you would expect your guy here to be a massive success anyway. Yes, he plays. There are literally thousands of people on the planet who can play to that level. When I worked in a music store (instruments not LPs), some guy would walk in at least once every week or two and rip off some crazy runs on piano, organ or guitar. The world is stuffed with talented players who lack any personal charisma or overwhelming creativity. If they're lucky, they become session musicians and get paid a little.
